EPU Tube Finished Today.

As of June 30th 2010 EPU Tube is now completed!

Thanks to all of you who watched and subscribed! More Peace videos will be made by us in the future, just search the names of all the great people involved and visit EPU's website and go if you can!

EPU Tube was a pilot programmed made by students of the European Peace University in Fall 2008. Passwords and documentation are with the EPU Admin now, so hopefully it continues in the future with the new EPU-Private University.

May peace be with you all!

Big Update and Handover Notification!

Hello all,

To many of you who have been through EPU you know what it is like to get out the other side... It's been a crazy bunch of months for me but slowly but surely the footage is getting up!

Right now the Summer Term has started at EPU with what looks to be a great lineup of classes and possibly the last trimester of classes run the way we are accustomed to. (See the site for details: http://www.epu.ac.at/start.html)

Henceforth I am urging the students there to take over EPU-Tube and really capture some moments in this possibly last summer term! Sofie Morin, Roya Murphy, Dominik Lehnert, Joelle Rizk, Nirma Bala - all have the passcodes for the EPU Tube and associated accounts, so hopefully they will use them! (Or pass them on to people who will!)

Meanwhile I will be uploading all my remaining video data furiously over the course of the next couple of days! Since the last update on this BLOG months ago several videos are online:

-Dominik Lehnert and Brigitt Altwegg's great in-class video: "Our Project for Peacebuilding - Sri Lanka"
- Sociocracy interview with Emilè van Danzig
- Interview with Johan Galtung on his course and the EPU experience
- Interview with Stella Sabiiti on Mediation and her thoughts on EPU

Still to come:
Interviews and Storytelling with Dietrich Fischer
EPU students on: 'Why they came to EPU', 'The EPU Experience', 'Their plans post EPU', 'Their Visions for an ideal EPU's future' and more...!

Quite frankly the footage of the students was far lengthier and more substantial than i thought which has made the editing process laborious! At this point however I will work on just getting them up rather than finesse, and for anyone still at EPU reading this I did leave all the raw video files on the computer nearest the door at the end of my last term in December. Hopefully Robert would have kept it...and if anyone wants the raws I can burn you a DVD and send it.

That's all for now, stay tuned! New Term, new videos!

EPU Fall 2008 Graduation Ceremony

Today was the final day of Fall Term 2008 at the European Peace University. It was decided not to film at the closing ceremony, however graduating student Christoph Ziegler has kindly provided his speech presented during the ceremony for our Blog viewers titled "What is EPU?" Thank you for sharing Christoph!

What is EPU
It was my last term and I want to share with you some of my thoughts and experiences, which are also yours.

What is Epu? What does it mean?

EPU is the spirit of hope for a better world
EPU is a protected environment to show and to deal with our weaknesses
EPU, especially House International is the most famous center in whole Burgenland for rumors and gossiping
EPU is a balancing act between sharing with the community and withdrawing to centre yourself
EPU is the challenge to deal with the temptations between men and women in House International and to handle different cultures and mentalities.
EPU is the tension and synthesis between high motivation and also frustration
EPU is a illusory family but also reality
EPU for a student is the feeling of having time for everything and on the other side the feeling of having no time for anything.
EPU is world politics in a ghost town.
EPU is the happy experience to find friends and the sad experience to say good bye to them.
EPU is located at the end of the world but after the study you are connected to the whole world
EPU creates in all of us a common vision: that´s a peaceful world and also a bigger kitchen in House International
EPU stands for wonderful people, who want to work for a peaceful world.
And concerning the future of EPU, whatever happens, the spirit of EPU will never die.

Christoph Ziegler

What is Conflict video uploaded!

A new video titled: 'What is Conflict?' has successfully been uploaded to EPU Tube!

This is an experimental peace education video created by EPU Students of Fall Term 2008. Based on the World Cafè methodology introduced to us by Fred Dubee in Summer 2008 term, this video brainstorm session starts from the question: 'What is conflict?' and expands from there!

This video is intended to give an introductory insight into the complexities of peace and conflict studies and the further questions that are raised, as a mind mapping tool for those wondering what Peace and Conflict Studies is about!

Enjoy, and tune in for more!
